Abstract
In this chapter, I will interpret the Zone of Proximal Development from the perspective of chronotope or time-space configuration. From here, I will explore the ‘zone of playful proximal development’ and contrast it with a zone of serious proximal development. At the heart of the playful I suggest is the possibility of joint, spontaneous improvisation.
